Context & Analysis

  • Parlay share jumped to 43.9% of handle ($168.4M), up from 33% in May and 31% in April. Parlays now account for nearly every second dollar wagered in Indiana.
  • Baseball climbed to $66.4M (17.3%) as MLB became the summer's dominant single-league driver.
  • Basketball collapsed to $28.4M (7.4%), the NBA and WNBA off-season low with no playoff carryover.
  • Football stayed at the off-season floor of $7.1M (1.8%). The NFL preseason lifts this in August.
  • Total handle of $384.2M is the summer floor — down 20% from May and 22% from April, as expected without any major U.S. team-sport playoff overlap.
  • Operator hold hit 10.43%, one of the highest print of the year, consistent with parlay-heavy months (parlays carry structurally higher hold).
  • DraftKings led all operators at $137.0M in handle. FanDuel followed at $103.4M. Together the two market leaders captured 62.5% of July handle.
  • bet365 and Hard Rock Bet were the only two operators to grow month-over-month, with bet365 up 7% to $31.5M and Hard Rock up 7.5% to $11.1M.
  • July is the first month of Indiana's fiscal year 2027, so YTD figures reset to the July values.

Methodology & Source

All figures sourced directly from the Indiana Gaming Commission's "Summary of Wagering and Supplemental Tax" filings, published monthly at in.gov/igc. Handle includes both online and retail wagers, including bets placed on future events. Taxable Adjusted Gross Revenue is computed after payouts and adjustments. Indiana taxes sports-wagering AGR at 9.5%.

Operator-to-casino license mapping follows the IGC's "Detail of Sports Wagering Tax" page. A few operators (Caesars Sportsbook, theScore Bet) operate under different legal entity names than their consumer-facing brand — those mappings are noted in the table above.
